Yesterday’s factory management techniques are being replaced by more efficient methods that greatly minimize delays, reduce costs and improve quality, bringing in maximum value to customers. Lean Manufacturing is a holistic-systems approach that creates a culture in which everyone in the organization continuously improves processes and production. The program enhances understanding of some of the more common process-related principles of Lean Manufacturing and the strategies necessary to support them, including Lean set-up roadmap, Zero Waste Environment and Lean tools. The benefits, mindset and culture of Lean Manufacturing will be compared to the situation of most manufacturing facilities today.

Upon completion the assessment of current state and roadblocks (wastes) are identified, the core improvement team engages in the process of troubleshooting the root causes then formulate new ideas to meet the final goal set by the company. The workshop covers the needs identification created by organizational goals and assigning the tasks required to achieve them. This workshop will deal with how the Lean set-up roadmap is created and the responsibilities of the Lean Forum members in monitoring and measuring the continued success of implemented changes. Problems solving techniques, Pull production and Lean tools are introduced.

Today’s Management and staffs are still struggling in finding ways to reduce costs in all areas. Even though, the claimed lean transformed factories still have not yet found the real waste affecting their productivity focusing only on set of tools learned or copied from other or focusing on the connection of the value streams in a continuous flow manner. Lack of education led to misunderstanding putting a stop on creativity, which have limited the improvement progress from driven deep into the systematic elimination of waste. Most productivity achievements in manufacturing industry are 65% related to manufacturing work methods and 35% related to materials and information flow. The results of effective work methods are still the key-success to an overall productivity improvement. This workshop goes beyond engineering revealing the formula for mastering Innovation. The power of well-balanced keys can push improvement to ever- higher levels, achieving even higher goals than expected. In this workshop, the attendees will learn the techniques to assess manufacturing areas or offices and identify the wastes that are blocking performance and formulate systematic plan to eliminate wastes.

Companies are becoming more efficient through their Lean initiatives in the manufacturing process. However, they are losing ground because they have not transferred the knowledge and lessons gained to their administrative and management support activities. Fundamental change ultimately requires the involvement and support of the entire organization, otherwise initial efforts will collapse. Most Lean initiatives conducted by manufacturers are focused mostly on production activities – mapping the value stream of raw materials and information flow from dock-to- dock and the work practices within the manufacturing processes. Much of the untapped potential for productivity improvements lies, however, in non-production areas where the value stream relates to management. These management and office value streams directly support the daily production needs of a manufacturing company.
